Spring Thermals

Psyching up

Great Flying off Mt. MacKenzie. Sunny skies, strong thermals, and even a few Eagles to fly with.  I launched at around 430 and got yanked up above the ski hill in about 2 minutes. Not bad lift for this time of year.

Geting yanked into the sky

Still going up at 430 in April! Love spring flying!

First Ski Launch!

I was going to try it sooner or later…..

All Photos By Derek Marcinyshyn

If I had enough courage I would have A) not been so nervous to do a ski launch, or B) asked the photographer to put away the camera- as I was secretly wishing he would! (I’m not very good at being in front of the camera when I’m nervous)

Radio Check

Chris’s demo and the moral support from Alan enabled me to suck it up and give it a try!

The next thing I know I was airborne!!

And up like a rocket!

And the views weren't bad!

Thank you so much for the awesome photos DEREK!!!!

Finally a Hut Trip!!

Chicken Coop bound, Ardelle and I were lucky enough to get a heli-drop above this hut the last beautiful sunny day before the snow hit last week. Can you see the hut?

Day 1 was planned around how much time it would take to dig out the hut!!!! I guess we were the first people in there in months!

What more could you ask for?

A cozy hut, powder, venison steaks,

perfectly spaced trees,

and the sun again!

Airborne finally!

All dressed up and ready to go

The weather and my days off finally lined up for some flying. Naturally the clouds rolled in right as we got to launch. Chilly but fun flight down. Its super fun to ride the lifts up and not have to worry about shuttling the truck down. Gotta love the ski hill

Brrrrrr......where did the sunshine go?

Winter Paradise

Its been awhile since I put anything up on the Blog. Well its been a pretty crazy winter up here, from epic 1 meter snowfalls to 3 week dry spells. Lots of sunny skiing in the backcountry during the dry periods with beautiful views above the valley clouds.  The temps were too cold to go flying unfortunately, long periods of -20 which is abnormal for this area. The wx is turning around this month, more regular snowfall and finally some warm temps! Hopefully flying soon.

Creeks are pumping!

Lots of rain the last few days in Revelstoke brought the local creeks back up. One of my favorites the Jordan was at a perfect flow. I am really pumped to still be paddling creeks in November. Right before the rain we snuck one more day of flying in. Amazing views into the mountains with snow above treeline.
